National City’s annual Spirit of the Holidays toy and food giveaway event. This event is held every year and the intentions are to provide food and toys to residents in the community to make the holidays a little easier. A lot of work went into raising funds for the event such as, NCFD’s Spirit of the Holidays pancake breakfast, as well as several Pancake Breakfast held by the Lions Club National City. This is such a great way for us to give back to our community, and we know that we wouldn’t be a fire department without them. Happy holidays everyone.
National City Firefighters, as well as other city employees, are teaming up with “KaBOOM!” with building a playground at Las Palmas Park in National City. KaBOOM! works with cities to transform the everyday spaces – sidewalks, bus stops, vacant lots – into great places for kids to play. Through their Play Everywhere initiatives and grant programs, they are eliminating the behavioral barriers to play with low-cost, mobile, and most importantly, fun play opportunities.
